Why are they showing the old Kabuki prototype? I don’t get it. The Tick looks cool but Dick Tracy looks gawd awful. The rest don’t matter to me.

I think most of them in the shelf are early prototypes. The evolution of the indie spotlight picures explains it all better.

Yeah, I think that these were all earlier prototypes like admin said. Keep in mind that these figures clean up really nicely by the time you see the final product. Don’t be so harsh to call a Prototype “gawd awful.” There’s always room for improvement, by the time the figure is finished.

If you don’t like certain aspects of some figures, then explain what it is that you’re not happy with. Shocker Toys hears these things, and they make changes to improve the figures. This is why they show us prototype pictures in advance.

IS1 has gone through some amazing changes. And the only way that happens is by voicing your opinion. But remember that this is someone’s artwork. Try to be helpful and not rude.

    “Scud1994 Says:
So they are illegally advertising GWAR figures at Toyfair? Have they refunded the money on the figures?! This sounds positively scandalous!”

Just for the sake of clearing things up, this is a website for INDIE SPOTLIGHT! Not Shocker Toys in general. This is a site made by the fans, to help spread the word and inform other Fans about the line. Please take your past comment to the Shocker Toys website.

    “Scud1994 Says:
What is the evolution if you’re going back to the old Kabuki prototype.”

The Kabuki figure that was in the display case was the prototype. Fans will not be getting that figure. The one shown inside the package was the final figure. That’s what fans will be getting.

I don’t know why the prototype for kabuki was shown at Toy Fair, perhaps they wanted to save the Final figure for the end of the show. But we’re just reporting on what was shown there. Check some of the other posts around here for pictures of the Final figures, and Packaged figures. That’s what’s going to end up in the hands of fans. Not the prototype figures that were shown at Toy Fair.

    “Scud1994 Says:
I didn’t think this was a Shocker board so I didn’t need to explain why exactly I feel it’s a bad sculpt.”

You don’t need to explain yourself here at all. It was merely a suggestion. And the suggestion was meant more along the lines of explaining your thoughts to be Helpful. Kind, Helpful, Constructive criticism may result in improving the figure.
-If you are aware that this is not a Shocker Toys website, then please know that it’s not necessary to be posting anything here about the Gwar product. Feel free to head over to the Shocker Toys website if you want to make accusations towards them about their other products.

    “Scud1994 Says:
Sorry, but if a company can’t handle somebody’s negative opinion then why show the prototypes?”

We here at Indie Spotlight News are all fans. We’re not a company of any kind. Nobody said they couldn’t handle a negative opinion. It just helps your own argument to explain why you don’t like something rather than just saying that it’s “gawd awful.” If you’re a fan of the toy line, your constructive comments may be appreciated by the guys over at Shocker Toys. They may even make the necessary changes if they agree with your comments. But it helps to present those comments in a polite, and constructive manner.

    “Scud1994 Says:
If you want to know why, then here it is: The face is out of proportion and not consistent with Dick Tracy’s facial features.”

-I can continue to post pictures that look exactly like the figure, all day long. The face looks pretty dang close to me. Check out a lot more pictures of different styles for Dick Tracy. I’m sure that you’ll find a lot that look like this figure. The IS figure probably won’t look like the exact image that each and every person has in mind. But rather one particular style for Dick Tracy, which I think it does just fine.

    “Scud1994 Says:
He’s wasp wasted and looks like a woman in men’s clothing. His arms are hideously and comicly too long (his hands dip below his knees). his neck is twice as long as it should be and the way is head fits onto it make it look like a bobble head rather than an action figure.
So yeah, I thought just leaving it at “gawd awful” would have elicited a more positive response, thank you.”

Well again, I remind you that this is someone’s artwork. Your comments come off more rude rather then intending to be helpful. I wouldn’t expect everyone to like the prototypes. Keep in mind that they probably will look different in the end. But I’m sure you could find a more pleasant and helpful way of expressing your point of view. Please try working on a positive Constructive way to express your opinion. Then express those opinions to Shocker Toys and let them know where you think the toy can use improvement. Again, it’s just a suggestion… and please try to be polite. It seems to be much more effective.

Whew, long post. Sorry about that.

Wait, you told me I was rude because I didn’t explain what I didn’t like. Then I explain it and I am still rude because it’s negative criticism? Huh?!
So basically if you don’t like the figures it’s rude to say so? Way to be open minded.

Admin note: I never said it was rude because you didn’t explain yourself. It’s rude because you have no intentions of trying to be polite about your comments. I’m sure if you wanted to, you could find a more respectful approach with your criticism.

And you posted a lot of pics of Dick Tracy that you say look just like the fig but I don’t see any with a long neck. In fact, just the opposite. I also don’t see any where he has giant apple cheeks and a pointed jaw line. Just like before it’s exactly the opposite, he has very little cheeks and a flat square jaw that extends all the way to the sides of his head. Arguably the nose is correct but I would say it’s too small. Tracy’s signature nose is extremely flat and the tip is at the same depth as the bridge, this is not the case in the figure.

Also in those pictures you posted Dick Tracy has a high and tight hairdo. It’s very definitely shaved in the back with no sideburns. None at all. The figure has sideburns, longer hair in the back and locks hanging down in the front. It’s not even close.

Admin note: See now that wasn’t as bad. We just have a difference in opinion. I think it looks a lot like him, you don’t. No problems there. You even explained what you didn’t think looks correct about the figure, with out being rude. Thank you.

I don’t know what you’re seeing but those pictures you supplied only show how far away from Dick Tracy it really is.

I guess that means I am “rude” and a “hater”? jeez.

Admin note: again no, there wasn’t anything rude in this comment. But it would be much more helpful if you could continue to post like this, rather than basically trying to make fun of the artwork being shown. Constructive criticism is welcome. Keyword “Constructive.” Just trashing on the product will not be accepted any longer. We will edit it out and find a more polite way for you to get your point across.

Tracy actually has a hook nose in the Chester version. I think with a tuck back on the arm size and a fix of the waist he will be fine. Again you are ripping on a prototype which will look nothing like the final which will have all adjustments done. IS1 went through the same process. I guess with all the harping going on is why ST hasn’t shown any Series3 pics. Oh and yes you really are a hater from what I gather.

Agreed Pinto. My thought is that the figures most likely will change a bit from these prototypes. And the only way that a positive change will happen is if the fans voice their opinions.

But as it’s been pointed out before, helpful criticism can be done without being rude.

I agree. It is very obvious that a lot of these people that have tried or commented in a rude manner are ropers for the haters clubz. Most all threads on IS on other forums started out good and built feedback until they were all crashed by the haterz!

Okay, everyone just calm down. It’s not anything to get worked up about–no one needs to look for reasons to fight. There’s no reason for anyone to be rude.

The toys look great, by the way. Can’t wait for the Tick!

But that is where you are wrong NP. These guys go around the net bashing Shockers and their products for no good reason. Yes there have been delays and other problems but everyone has them. If some of these other websites would tell these folk ‘There is nothing to fight about’ would they listen? Maybe that would stop all the back talk and allow for some real feedback. Trying to drive a toyline into the ground does not help get you the toy you want the way you want. We need to ban together and put a stop to this bashing and make people out there realize that shockers is here to stay and they are doing the best they can with what they have.

But Pinto, negative feedback is real feedback. I’m perfectly aware of the people who go around bashing Shocker Toys simply because they don’t like them, but not everyone does that. You can’t make anything better by attacking everyone who criticizes the figures. Labelling them “haterz” or, “trolls” just makes the situation worse. I think we all agree that these guys shouldn’t just go around insulting people, but giving them the attention they want is the wrong way to go about fixing things. It’s still all just words on a screen. That’s not worth anyone getting upset about.

True I have given some negative feedback myself on IS1 but they used it to improve the figs. So I do not think it is true that they don’t listen to negative feedback but they do not listen to people who say these sucks without a reason.
